Wunderhorse have quickly risen to become one of the best live acts on the scene, ticking off venue after venue and gaining a following the traditional way. Alexandra Palace has now also been crossed off that list, a venue so integral that it shouldn’t be taken lightly. For Wunderhorse, it feels like the natural next step, making their appearance at O2 Academy Brixton (less than 6 months ago) merely a warm-up.
To celebrate such an achievement and kick off their headline EU Tour, the band has dropped a new single The Rope.
The track has been teased recently at various in-store shows and again on their return to the UK, and has already become a popular topic of discussion among their loyal following. Riding a similar sound to Midas, the tune is being dubbed their most positive to date, showing there’s always another trick up their sleeves.
This new single demonstrates a continual knack from Slater at penning some of the best lyrics in the music scene. The chorus itself shows a more optimistic side:
And, if you don't want it easy, go steady
You gotta do what you do to get along
Did they leave you screaming in the rain?
Yeah, no one told you that they loved you
Were you cheated? Were you robbed?

The Rope's exclusive 7-inch vinyl, pressed and hand-numbered to 500 copies, sold out within less than 2 minutes on their store. This vinyl comes with Arizona (acoustic) as a B-side. Alongside this, the band have repressed Midas on limited red-splatter and Cub in beautiful Teal after the success of the early single.
What could this single mean for the band? You can likely expect a Deluxe Edition of Midas, perhaps with The Rope, Arizona (acoustic), with a couple more tunes over Summer. Deluxe Editions have become increasingly popular in recent times, to keep fans engaged with albums, and this would make sense for the band, as we edge closer to 1 year of Midas.
In other news, the rock outfit has recently become a three-piece, after losing bassist Peter Woodin, who had played with the band for more than 7 years.
Catch Wunderhorse as they visit Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Italy and Switzerland next on their tour, you can pick up tickets here.
