Alexandra Leaving has been making waves over the last year, appearing on our Top 5 EP’s of 2024 with a solid effort on An Exorcise In Anger. Hailing from the Midlands, her energetic singles have already caught the attention of Radio X and various major press.

Now two singles into 2025, she’s returned with The Wall - her boldest and ambitious track to date. At a time when independent artists and grassroots venues are feeling (more than) the pinch, The Wall is here to reassure, and if anything, inspire.

Taking a darker and heavier turn than previously, the Wolf-Alice-Smile-esque single reaffirms her versatility as an artist.

Leaving has explained below:

“This song’s for anyone who feels like they’re waiting for their moment. The lyrics are pretty direct and tongue-in-cheek - you’ve got to keep that spirit in an industry that can sometimes feel like a dystopian gameshow.”

I was imagining it like a theme tune on an ‘80s show - “can you beat The Wall?!”. The barriers and gatekeeping at this level are tough, especially in a male-dominated genre. Sometimes the only way to be heard is to yell - so yeah, this is me yelling.”

If you haven’t heard the single yet, there’s no time to wait.

Stream The Wall now on all streaming platforms, or catch Leaving on 13th June (London) or July 19th (Digbeth) at live shows.
