Wunderhorse is road-testing new material in North America: ‘Promises’ & ‘Kerosene’
After some time away, Wunderhorse are back, and they didn’t come empty-handed.

After Wunderhorse finished their seemingly endless tour last year in Australia, the rising rock band took some time away from the limelight.
The astronomical success of their sophomore record Midas took them to Glastonbury’s Park Stage, Alexandra Palace and O2 Academy Brixton, to name a few. Last Summer, they released a standalone single, The Rope, which was dubbed more ‘hopeful’.
They returned with their first headline shows of 2026 at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC on July 23rd, kicking off their North American tour. The 15-strong setlist featured 9 tracks from Midas, 3 from Cub, and 2 new ones. This setlist has since remained broadly consistent.
The new track Promises is largely stripped back and lyrically centres on betrayal. Whereas the other, Kerosene, is much grungier and sounds even bigger than some of the material on Midas.
Neither of these tracks had been road-tested previously, so are entirely new to the fanbase.
Both tracks sound fresh, interesting and most importantly new for the band, who have always prided themselves on not being boxed into a specific genre.
Their ability to mix up live sets and keep pushing forward is what makes them one of the most exciting bands on the scene. We’re looking forward to seeing how these tracks continue to unfold, and also what else they’ve been cooking.
It’s certainly an exciting time to be an alt-rock fan, with bands like Wunderhorse and Fontaines D.C. paving the way for the likes of KEO, Bleech 9:3 and Basht.
After North America, Wunderhorse have shows later this Summer in Belfast, Cork and Sheffield, where we suspect they’ll continue to roll out this new material.
