Birmingham / Leicester-based Shall I Be Mother have announced their first single of 2025, set for release on 30/05/25, the fiery and addictive Landmines, followed by a headline show at The Victoria in Birmingham on 31/05/25.

Landmines is the first track from Shall I Be Mother in 2025, following a string of live appearances in the East and West Midlands last year.

The song Landmines is about uncertainty, that feeling when life seems ‘okay’ on the surface, but with every step you take, anything could just…blow up.

As a band, this was the first single written and recorded as a cohesive unit, developed from a shared idea and completed during band rehearsals.

Lead Vocalist, Danny, explains:

“For all of the songs on both Daydream and Satellite, we each had our ideas and contributed to each other’s work. They were all collections of songs written and recorded individually, and then brought together by performing live.

How we approached Landmines changed everything; it’s the first track where everyone was involved from the beginning, giving it a more organic feel.”

The band will be playing The Victoria on Saturday 31st May 2025, to celebrate the release of Landmines featuring support from Fluoxetine, Mvnich, Hek and Parley. The band last played shows last year, during a mini-string of live performances.

Shall I Be Mother is a Birmingham / Leicester-based band, formed in early 2023 by Danny (Lead Vocals/Bass), Jacob (Guitar), Charlie (Guitar) and later joined by Tom (Drums). The band have released two EPS (Daydream and Satellite) entirely independently, and recently completed their biggest show to date, headlining O2 Academy 3 Birmingham.
