Paul McCartney has announced his first new album in six years, The Boys Of Dungeon Lane, which will be released on 29th May 2026. This will be his 18th solo album, with the last being McCartney III, which was recorded primarily during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The new album is led by the acoustic-led single Days We Left Behind, a rare glimpse into McCartney’s childhood in post-war Liverpool. The single was debuted on BBC Radio Merseyside (Liverpool).

This new body of work is said to be his most introspective yet, writing with ‘rare openness’ about his childhood, parents and formative relationships with John Lennon and George Harrison before the beginning of The Beatles. Speaking to the press, McCartney said:

“This is very much a memory song for me. I do often wonder if I'm just writing about the past, but then I think, how can you write about anything else?"

Starting in 2021, recording sessions have taken several years, fitted around McCartney's touring schedule (headlining Glastonbury for a second time!), production of the acclaimed Get Back documentary and then writing a memoir about Wings.

He also wrapped up The Beatles with the GRAMMY award-winning Now And Then, which came together, salvaged from demos using new technology.

Paul McCartney has played two intimate shows in Los Angeles over the last few days at The Fonda Theatre, both of which were phone-free events to showcase new music. When attempting to give fans some photographs as keepsakes on Reddit, his official account (likely run by management) was initially banned before being reactivated.

There are rumours that McCartney may be coming to Europe or the UK later this year for a run of shows to support the album.

Pre-Order the album now.
