Weekly Roundup #75
Welcome to Roundup, showcasing the freshest tunes at the moment.
Another week, another roundup. What are you spinning?
Siren - KEO
If there’s one name flying around the scene at the moment, it’s always KEO. The rising indie quartet have treaded a similar path to Wunderhorse, building a community through live shows and a DIY approach on SoundCloud. The culmination of their efforts has arrived at this point, as they release a hotly anticipated EP, which lives up to all the hype.
Like It’s Love - Jess Allardice
After featuring Jess Allardice on a previous Round Up, the artist is back with another indie-pop single. Hailing from Glasgow, her mash-up of R&B and alternative pop works wonders. There’s even a Winehouse punch to her vocals. For fans of Lola Young or Griff, you’ll love this one.
city of hope - poor effort.
A new one on our radar, introducing poor effort. The British hip-hop post-punk poet has revealed his debut EP, with supporting single city of hope. It’s a mix of trippy beats and deadpan wit, which is a surprisingly effective combination. Looking forward to seeing the full EP shape-up.
The Contract - Twenty One Pilots
Midway through their huge Clancy Tour, Twenty One Pilots announced a new album on the way. The genre-defining duo are always full of surprises, and this was one in a long line of others. The Contract is the first from their 7th studio album, combining so much into a track that it’s hard to box into a genre. One thing is for sure, they’re still at the top of their game.
Takes A Second - Nerves
West Irish noise-makers Nerves have announced their second EP Iarmhaireacht, produced by Daniel Fox (Gilla Band), alongside the release of its second single, Takes A Second. Following several powerful live shows, the new single is an embodiment of just that. Raw force, energy and unease, achieved with sonic collapse.
